Radio and Weasel launch album

In their song Tonjagala which was their concert title, Mowzey Radio and Weasel, are asking why they are not loved. It is a love song but the message is an appealing one and last Friday fans gave them the reassurance of support, flocking Hotel Africana where the Good Lyfe duo, put up a good live show that lasted over two hours.
They started from the songs that made them like Nakudatta, Nyambura, Zuena, Ole to their most recent ones like Omanyi Mukama, Pollination featuring Obsessions and Dudu featuring Shanks Gumaras. But for a show where pessimists had spelled doom for the young singing duo as revellers turned up late, the singers could not thank their fans enough. “Thank you for coming. You make us what we are. We would be long gone had you decided to turn you backs on us,” Mowzey Radio said.

70 year old man commits suicide in Wakiso district

A 70 year old man has committed suicide at Katulaga village Nsangi Sub County, Wakiso district.
The man only identified as Wapamba has been suffering from an ailment that residents believe could have driven him into suicide.
He was  found hanging at his house where he used his kanzu to strangle himself.

Man takes vigra and rapes mother

A man who took Viagra tablets and tried to rape his own mother has been lashed 60 canes of the stroke and banished from his village in Masaka.
Kyambadde Gonzaga aged 27 years and resident of Kayija village in Buwunga Sub County is said to have gone on rampage after taking the sex drugs and tried to rape the mother who is 6 months pregnant.

UPDF arrests LRA rebel Caesar Acelam

The Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) has arrested one of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) rebels Caesar Acelam as he attempted to cross from Central Africa Republic to Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Commander of the Land forces in the UPDF Lt.Gen.Katumba Wamala says in a phone interview that Acelam was arrested at river Mboma located between Central African Republic and Democratic Republic of Cong.
Lt.Gen.Katumba Wamala says that the arrest of this man has given them more moral and it also clears the air on allegations that LRA rebels do not elitist.

Government asked to improve teachers’ salaries

As the second term of the academic year starts tomorrow, Kigulu South Mp Milton Muwuma appeals to school teachers to be calm as government works on the improvement of their salaries.
At the beginning of the 1st term, teachers in government aided schools put down their tools protesting poor payment.
Muwuma says that the reoccurrence of a teachers strike should not be allowed because the pupils and students are the ones affected.

Term limits can’t stop Museveni, says Prof. Aaron Mukwaya

Prof.Aron Mukwaya a don at Makerere University teaching Political Science says that reinstatement of Presidential term limits will not stop President Museveni from ruling Uganda.
Some members of the Civil Society including some religious leaders want Parliament to reinstate Presidential term limits as a means of putting an end to the current regime allegedly accused of being corrupt and not considerate to the hardships that the common man goes through on a daily basis.

IGG investigates Jinja Custodian Board property

The Inspectorate of Government has started investigating reports that property belonging to the Custodian Board in Jinja Town could have been grabbed or is in the process of being grabbed by unscrupulous people.
This newspaper has also learnt that the current managers at the Custodian Board in Kampala have been asked to avail a full list of all property in question that was never claimed and their current status.
Reports indicate that some of the current managers or some of those who left the board could be accomplices to the sales.

Experts approve pill to prevent Aids virus

A pill to prevent HIV could soon be available in what would be a major breakthrough in the three decade fight against the Aids epidemic. Truvada is currently used to treat the virus, but tests have shown it to be safe and effective in healthy people for preventing it.
The Food and Drug Administration concluded that taking the pill daily could spare patients ‘infection with a serious and life-threatening illness that requires lifelong treatment’.
