Fire guts Owino market

Owino market has been burnt this Sunday
morning leaving property worth millions
of shillings destroyed. The fire that
allegedly started at about midnight
destroyed property including tailoring
machines and bails of clothes.
Witnesses said the fire burnt two sections
of the market, Nakalema and Kayemba
houses, where tailors and second-hand
cloth dealers operate from.
The burning of the market comes amidst
the ongoing wrangles over management
of the market between St. Balikuddembe
Market Stalls, Space & Lock-Up Shops
Owners Association Ltd (SSLOA) and
Owino Twegatte Development Association
Ltd.
